Nan Keyser B.A. M.Ed in Counselling Psychology is a psychotherapist, and expressive and healing arts facilitator, with a supportive, caring, and wholistic approach to counselling and teaching.

As a psychotherapist, Nan has counselled clientele of diverse backgrounds and ages since 1991 in the areas of body image, eating disorders, relationships, trauma and abuse, grief and loss, anti-oppression, crisis management, learning relaxation & meditation, dreams, panic and anxiety, creativity and depression. She provides an empowering space for healing and self discovery in the workshops she offers with Erica Ross, and in her private practice. Nan knows from personal experiences that the expressive arts is a growth path towards health, happiness and healing.

 

Nan has been an avid dancer for many years and became a certified yoga instructor (Hatha and Kundalini) in 1995.   She has a passion for bringing the healing arts into the community. She taught yoga in a compassionate and empowering style in a variety of settings.   Nan incorporates chanting and healing sound in her workshops and classes, and teaches an ongoing chanting group at Sheena's place. She enjoys singing, and sharing her creative vision, and soothing and uplifting voice in recording projects such as her current CD "Healing Imagery and Chants" which incorporates guided imagery, chanting, relaxation and breathing practices. Nan continues to be thrilled to co-facilitate groups with Erica and to combine their complementary skills and gifts in Expressive Healing.

Nan has trained at OISE/University of Toronto Counseling Psychology program, The Rape Crisis Centre, The Adler Institute in Trauma Psychotherapy, The Integral Healing Centre, The Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute, Psychodramatic Body Work, Centre for Mental Health and Addiction, and The Body Image Project at Women's College Hospital. She is a qualifying member of the Ontario Society of Psychotherapists who offers a unique holistic, body-centered approach to effectively and respectfully support women and men of all backgrounds in creating positive change and deeper connection to self and others.

She is an active founding member of The Move Dance Collective. She has been featured in the Globe and Mail, on CKLN and CIUT radio, and in Vitality and NOW Magazine.
